In an attempt to reduce the chaos that surrounds me, I am clearing out some of previous years’ (perfectly fine) stock. There is nothing wrong with these pieces other than that they are here and they take up visual and physical space in my studio. Shipping is at cost (most of these pieces are flat, so shipping in a padded, stiff envelope is possible). I take Paypal, cash, cheques from some people and can process credit cards through Paypal. Prices are in Canadian dollars. Shipping costs will be added to billing totals.

Constructed from a combination of hand-painted and hand-dyed fabrics, this piece is fused and machine-stitched. It is equipped with a hanging sleeve and rod for easy wall display.

Measuring 8″ x 8″, this piece is constructed out of hand-painted cotton fabric and is machine stitched using assorted threads.
It is ready-to-hang, complete with sleeve and hanging rod.
Laying Foundations
Price: $65
Measuring 17″ x 12.75″, this piece is constructed out of hand-painted cotton fabric and is machine stitched using assorted threads. The effect of light and wind is achieved through the use of tulle.
Inspiration:
Part of my family comes from the resettled community of Exploits Islands in Notre Dame Bay and we have returned there each summer since I was an infant. Over the past thirty years, I’ve watched time pass on the island and have noticed the progressive decay of certain houses, the construction of summer cabins and the shift from one generation to the next. When first I started going there, the community had only been resettled for eight years. There were still residents on the island and much of the old way of life there was intact. A generation of time has since passed and things are very different there now. The pillars portrayed in this piece are the ruins of the community church. After the decay and disintegration of the wood, all that remains are, appropriately enough, standing stones watching the entrance to the harbour.
It is ready-to-hang, complete with sleeve and hanging rod.
The Depths of Winter
Price: $20
Constructed with sheers over a piece of hand-painted cotton, this winter landscape contains and embodies the quotation by Camus, “In the depths of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer.” The swirls of wind and snow through the sky take the form of sparking metallics and holographic threads, while the layers of earth are slightly visible through the tulle/snow. Nestled among the layers are seeds from a broom plant, symbolising the promise of spring and the invincibility of nature (anyone who has tried to eradicate broom will understand this!)
The piece measures 8″ x 8″ and is edged with hand-dyed silk embroidery floss.
